Not making the list were Richard Hatch – Survivor Game Show Winner, Richard Belzer – Actor (Homicide: Life on the Street) and Stand Up Comedian, Richard Daley – Chicago Mayor, Richard Adams – Author (Watership Down), Richard Lugar – United States Senator from Indiana, Richard Russo – Author (Empire Falls), Richard Dawson – Actor (Hogan’s Heros) and Game Show Host (Family Feud), and Richard Carstone – a character in Charle’s Dickens novel Bleak House.
I was surprised that the artists (Avedon and Prince) did so well while the authors (Adams and Russo) did not, but perhaps having a lot of images online helps build popularity. Not really surprising that the major movie stars (Gere, Burton, and Dreyfuss) were high on the list or that President Nixon was number one.
