Vampires Why Are They in Style?

Vampires are all the vogue these days except for Vampire Hunters. Guess you can’t hunt a girl’s date to a prom(although even Buffy dated a vampire). Werewolves are pretty popular too. Both True Blood and Twilight have werewolves. In the old horror films, werewolves were right up there with vampires so I guess I see the connection there. But, why no Frankenstein monsters or zombies? Vampires and werewolves are fast so I guess women just like men who are on the move.
True Blood-The first season was great. The first book was really good too. The first meeting between Bill and Sookie is a masterpiece. The later books are not as good. I don’t like the way they changed Tara from the book. In the show she’s a little too whiny. A lot of the changes from the book were better for example how they had Bill save Sookie instead of Eric and how Bill walked through the sunlight to try to save Sookie from Rene. But, I don’t like the whole new plot lines like Tara’s and the vampire that Bill made. I guess it’s easier to tweak and improve stories then it is to create new ones.
Vampire Diaries-Stefan is just incredibly annoying. He’s just not a particularly interesting villain. Just a real jerk. It’s almost unbearable to watch him.
Twilight-What I like about Twilight is that you get the feeling that Bella is the author. Edward Cullen is the outcast boyfriend she dated. It’s just a really good work about high school and the vampires plus werewolves are metaphors for other issues. Just imagine vampires as the goths and werewolves as the jocks. You get a typical high school drama with some supernatural elements.
Moonlight-Very creative. Detective drama with vampires and I love me a good cop drama.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer-I loved the stand alone episodes. The musical episode, the alternate reality episode, the episode where the get caught in a time loop. What was great about Buffy is how they brilliantly tackled all the off-format episodes. I didn’t actually like the ongoing story lines of Buffy which is why I didn’t really like…
Angel-Which had so few off format episodes. I loved Conner as a character. I thought he was so funny. But there were just too many ongoing story lines that weren’t terribly interesting.
My ideal vampire show. A high school drama with a whole bunch of off-format episodes. Using ST:TNG and Buffy to get a list. The Next Generation brilliantly covered off format with episodes from minor characters perspectives, a news footage episode, etc.
