Actually, no, there are no aliens in the Fighter Queen series. The Sirians are 100% human, descendants of North American white supremacists such as the KKK and skinheads.

Well done John.
But your 'space opera' is fighting aliens, isn't it. But I agree, is about the Fighter Queen and the people. Although you do use a few special effects for your space battles --- always cheaper writing than viewing !

You brushed by B5 so fast that I'll bet most folks missed it.

IMHO Babylon 5 was the best SF series to ever hit TV. Well plotted and directed by Straczynski(with help from Harlan Ellison), it was a 5-year planned series with a beginning, middle, and end. It was mostly about the clash of cultures, personalities, and ambition. The characters changed and grew as the series developed. Good guys became bad guys and conversely.

Each episode was a story unto itself, but within the overall story and conflict between "good" and "evil". Yes, most of the aliens came off as "human", but that's what audiences demand of any character that's supposed to be sympathetic.

Straczynski was happy to finish the work, but got hornswoggled into doing a spin-off, "Crusade", that didn't last long because it just didn't have the passion he'd put into the 5-year project.

I'm a big fan of time travel and loved the effort ABC made with "Life on Mars". I then discovered that the British version, which was able to run til conclusion, was supremely better and available online.

I know nothing about a show being brought back called, "Fringe", but it's continuously referred to as "something for those who liked, "X-Files"".
