Star Trek Movie Merchandise and Collectibles

The new Star Trek movie is here and it is absolutely wonderful. Now fans are after Star Trek movie merchandise and collectibles, but what is out there to collect? There are a number of cool ranges of official Star trek merchandise that have been made available, so here I’ll take a look at a few of the items currently out there for new fans and old fans to check out.
When it comes to Star Trek, there has never really been a shortage of collectibles, but now with the new film doing so well at the box office (and it’s going to be HUGE on DVD/Blu Ray), a whole new generation of fans are discovering the USS Enterprise and her crew for the first time, so the audience is bigger than ever before.
Playmates toys have created a great range of official Star Trek movie merchandise including action figures and replica devices. The first wave of action figures includes Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Original Spock, Pike, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, Nero and Scotty. Each figure is supplied with a Star trek movie display symbol display base and accessories. The device replicas the company offer include the phaser (with revolving barrel for ‘Stun’ and ‘Vapourize’ modes like in the movie), a Starfleet Tricorder and comminucator. All of the devices come with working lights and sound.
Other Star Trek movie items from Playmates include a great USS Enterprise model and a range of 12 inch figures of four main characters, namely Spock, McCoy, Kirk and Original Spock. These feature fabric costumes and detailed accessories. A range of smaller figures, the ‘Galaxy collection’ is also available from them, featuring the same range as the regular sized action figures. These smaller figures fit with the play-sets that have been released, including the Bridge set and Transporter room.
Posters for the movie have been printed by the globally renowned GB Eye, the UK based company responsible for many of today’s best movie and pop culture posters and prints. Other items for interest to fans of the new Star Trek include movie t-shirts bearing images of Spock and the new Enterprise, a movie novel, a very popular comic book prequel (‘Countdown’), mugs and more.
This is just the start though. With the movie being so huge, interest will continue to grow, as will the range of merchandise available. There’s a sequel already in the works, and more adventures to come, so the range of new Star Trek movie merchandise has only just hit warp speed.
