Desperate Housewives Seasons 1-5 DVD Box Set

Desperate Housewives had been launched first in 2004 and throughout all of its seasons; the show had always remained popular with the viewers. The series received high critical acclaims as well a large and loyal fan base. The story is set in a suburban neighborhood where the erratic lives of the housewives who live on the street are followed through the episodes. As they face various challenges in their day to day life, some quite serious and others hilarious, viewers are left thirsty to know more.

Everyone on the neighborhood has secrets and things are not as they seem. Wisteria Lane is where the housewives live and there are various mysteries and quite a lot of scandals that always find their way to the neighborhood. There are spouses who cheat, gay couples, dead bodies in the backyard, suicides and murders. Though Desperate Housewives is a soap opera, it is much more than that. There are numerous twists and turns through Desperate Housewives seasons 1-5 TV series as the episodes reveal and there is enough mystery to keep viewers glued to their seats.

More than anything else, the TV series is known for its style quotient as portrayed by the lead characters and for its own unique blend of humor. There is enough drama for the soap opera fans and the narration itself is done by a deceased neighbor. There are several everyday life issues and many touchy issues which are generally not touched by TV series which makes the experience all too real.

Since its launch Desperate Housewives has won several Screen Actors Guild awards, Golden Globe as well as Emmy awards and had been reported to be the most popular show world wide in 2007. What makes the show unique is the characters and the cast of the show which add their own special touch to the series. The series is narrated by a deceased neighbor, Mary Alice Young who had committed suicide, the reasons of which remains a mystery to the women. It was her suicide that managed to bring in the other women closer in the neighborhood. When the season 1 kicks off, it starts off with Mary already dead and narrating the episodes as she sees it through her eyes.

There are several flashbacks through the seasons when Mary’s past life is shown as the other women try to figure out why she might have killed herself. The main characters on the show are Edie Britt, played by Nicollette Sheridan, Marcia Cross playing Bree Van De Kamp, Eva Longoria playing Gabrielle Solis, Felicity Huffman playing Lynette Scavoa nd Teri Hatcher playing Susan Mayer.
