Once upon a time there was a baby pig named Wilbur. He began making friends around the farm yard. One of the animals broke the news to Wilbur that pigs are fattened up and eaten. Wilbur quickly becomes friends with a barn spider named Charlotte. She is very nice and wise. She too knew that his life was in danger from the moment he was born. Charlotte decides to try to save her new friend’s life To do this she needs Templeton the rat’s help. She knows that he is always wondering around in the garbage. She asks him to bring back some words that are on paper. He does so immediately.
The next morning, the farmer walks over to the barn and sees that there is a message spelled out in the spider web. It says “some pig.” This gets the attention of the local newspaper’s and soon there is a crowd around the barn. A few days later a bug gets trapped in the web and soon the message is forgotten. Charlotte knows that Wilbur’s life has not been saved yet so she decides to write another message in the web. She again asks for Templeton’s help.
Sure enough, the next morning there is another message in the web and the newspaper reporters are on the scene. However, the message is soon forgotten. A few weeks pass and Wilbur is taken to the state fair. Charlotte and Templeton go with him. On the way, Wilbur’s life is discussed and Templeton agrees a third time to help find words to put in the web. Once the fair closes for the night, Templeton has the time of his life eating all the leftovers that are on the ground and in trash cans, but does eventually come back with some words. Charlotte can feel the weather getting colder and knows that her time is almost up. She quickly fills her tiny egg sack with eggs and spells out her last message before she dies. Is it enough to save Wilbur? Do her offspring survive the winter? Watch and find out.
