Why There Are So Many Controversies Over TVs

In homes across the world a very popular form of entertainment has been TVs. There are even homes that have televisions in every single room. Some people just could not imagine life with out a TV. I am definitely one of those people. I guess I can admit that I am severely addicted to my television. Children have started watching television so often that it is starting to even affect their health.

Do you remember when children would go outside to play as soon as the sun was up and they would have to be called in when it turned dark? Where did the days like that go? There was a time when cartoons only came on Saturday mornings. There are so many channels these days that run cartoons all day long. We usually have to pry our kids from in front of the TV.

There is a lot of violence in the video games that our children are playing. The games allow them to stab, shoot, and beat up people while showing realistic looking gore, guts, and blood. This can not possibly be healthy for them. I guess it does depend on the child though.

The cartoons are only one of the things that keep our kids in front of the television. There are also many different games that children play on the TV. Kids do not leave the television long enough to go outside anymore. There are people that even put TVs in the bathroom. That is not what the kids need.

In this day in age we can watch television in the kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom. For several years people have been debating whether or not video games and movies are the cause for our children acting violently. I don’t know if that is to blame or not but I personally believe that children seeing other people being killed on a daily basis can not be healthy.

Age, stability, and mental health should definitely be considered before letting a child watch or play things like this. If you feel that your child may be unstable or have a mental condition then maybe you should monitor what they see on TV.

However television can be a great thing too. It can bring so much happiness to our lives. I am not talking about being happy when your favorite show comes on. I am talking about the happiness we feel when we see a reunited family on the news or see a hero that has saved a family. We can see this sort of thing because of our televisions.
