Castle, an Amusing and Fun Detective Drama on ABC

One of my favorite new programs that started last Spring is a crime series called Castle. The program is on every Monday night on ABC and runs for one hour from ten to eleven pm EST.The show is a comedic drama that is based on a famous mystery writer, Rick Castle, who helps the New York Police Department homicide squad solve crimes. It profiles his work life as well as a bit of his personal life and brings the two together.
Actor Nathan Fllion plays Rick Castle, who is having a difficult time completing his novels. After killing off the main character in his books, he struggles to come up with a replacement. He is approached by the very attractive Detective Kate Beckett (played by actress Stana Katic) of the NYPD to help catch the “copy-cat” killer who performs murders based on descriptions from his novels.
Castle is a very funny guy and not a traditional investigator. His approach to solving crimes conflicts with Beckett’s more conservative approach, which leads to amusing interaction between the two of them.Although there is no overt romance going on between them, the viewer is lead to believe that it can happen at any moment.
Both Fillion and Katic feed off each other which makes the show a pleasure to watch. The show is a perfect balance between the interaction of the two main characters and the weekly crimes they must solve. This dramatic comedy is very entertaining and I look forward to watching it every week.
