The Female Characters of “How I Met Your Mother”

The television show, “How I Met Your Mother” on CBS is a great depiction of the lives of five twenty or thirty-somethings living in New York City.�All of the characters are known very well by the show’s fanatics and each has a different personality.�The female characters complement the males nicely and have led to some classic relationship issues among the group.

Robin Scherbatsky is one of the two female main characters on the show.�She grew up in Canada, was a teenage pop music star and has high aspirations to become the world’s best television news anchor.�However, she always finds herself in terrible job positions like doing the 4am news or working on a random Japanese network.�Robin dated Ted, the show’s main character, for over a year, but just like all of her past relationships, it didn’t work out.�Now, she is trying her hand at dating Barney, but it doesn’t seem like either of them know what to do with the situation at hand.

Lily Aldrin is the other female character who is married to Marshall Erikson.�She met Marshall freshmen year of college and they’ve been in love ever since.�Lily is a school teacher who doesn’t seem to love her job, but does claim to love kids.�She’s love to become a professional artist, but her skills just don’t seem to cut it.�She’s been Ted’s best friend since college and always seems to think she knows what’s best for him.�

Even though the men of How I Met Your Mother may be the focal points with the show being about Ted and the antics of Barney featured, the women have just as an important role in the events that occur.
