House of Saddam – A DVD Review
May 21st, 2009 Filed under: Uncategorized — Movie Critic
House of Saddam is a four-part miniseries about the rise and fall of Saddam Hussein. Each episode focuses on a decade of Hussein’s reign. It lets the audience take a look not just at Saddam Hussein’s dictatorship, but also how his own family is stuck amidst all the political issues.
The fourth episode is the most riveting because it’s about the last moments in the 2003 Iraq War and the eventual arrest and execution of Hussein. It was the most riveting because the other episodes somehow lack the intensity one would expect in a show tackling someone powerful like Saddam Hussein.
For someone like Saddam Hussein, the plot of the series is a little bit steady. But there are also a lot of pros to the series. For one thing, the set is very extravagant for a mini-series. The big budget clearly worked well to the advantage of the show because the details in the set added to its success factor.
For those who are planning to get the House of Saddam DVD, you’re in for a treat. The sound and picture quality in the DVD is superb. And the musical score is just-right on. For a two-piece DVD, House of Saddam is a good buy. There is a Dolby 5-1 surround sound, and the images are very sharp. Also there is an extra feature in the DVD about the historical accuracy of the series. Basically the producers did a major research to obtain really important and rare information for the production of the series. If you buy the House of Saddam DVD, then you’ll also have access.
