American Idol Reveals Top Three For Season 8
May 11th, 2009 Filed under: Uncategorized — Movie CriticThe final four became the final three Wednesday night after Allison Iraheta became the latest to get the boot from American Idol. Did America get it right though? Tuesday night’s show brought in a record setting vote, outside a finale, of over 64 million votes. So just how did those votes line up? There is no sure way of knowing since there was no actual bottom three this week.
There is, however, outrage and astonishment in forums throughout the internet, claiming Allison was robbed of her top three spot. Many are screaming that either Danny or Kris should have gone home, saying they just didn’t measure up to Allison and Adam on rocker week.
America seemed rather forgiving, though, of Danny Gokey’s horrific screeching as he belted out Aerosmith’s “Dream On.” They also seemed to like Kris Allen’s rendition of “Come Together.” Neither are classified as rockers in the eyes of the judges, but both seemed to skate freely by this week.
So where is America putting the votes? As expected, many are putting them with Adam Lambert who astonished the judges Tuesday night with “Whole Lotta Love.” Adam, however, skated by just a week prior as he faced off against Matt Giraud in the bottom two. So where did Matt Giraud’s votes go since he was no longer a contestant? Apparently not to Allison Iraheta who failed to impress those voters. As she leaves the competition it most certainly becomes a boy’s club with American Idol’s top three consisting of Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey, and Kris Allen.
Many are expecting a Lambert-Gokey show down, but as America has proven before anything can happen. Next Tuesday the idols return to their hometowns where the judges will reveal their song choice for the contestants. So who will be America’s next idol? Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for the finale; there’s just no sure way to know where America’s votes sway. If you want your favorite idol in the finale there are only three things you can do. Vote, vote, and vote!
