Movie Review of The Bucket List
Monday, October 6th, 2008 @ 7:29 am
The Bucket List directed by Rob Reiner staring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman is a predictable story about two men that are terminally ill. Jack Nicholson plays a billionaire and Morgan Freeman plays a car mechanic. Together they come up with a plan to live life to its fullest.
I felt Jack Nicholson portrayed of his character was more convincing than how Morgan Freeman handled his role. Morgan Freeman’s portrayal lacked authenticity. His character could have been any one of a number of characters he played in the past. That being said, I would have to disagree with many of the reviews I have read concerning this movie. Even thou the details of the movie were not necessarily believable the over all message of the movie makes you think about things you tend to ignore in the present.
The movie demonstrates how people can become swept up in day to day people conflicts and forget about small things that should be considered important. These small things suddenly become important and vital to experience. They become the focus of one’s life or in this case one’s final days.
The filming of the movie was not quite an A+. There were a number of goofs in the movie that are quite obvious. I was able to pick up on them without having to go to the Internet to read about them. If more attention was paid to filming and editing details, this movie couldn’t have gotten higher marks than it did.
I didn’t mind watching this movie it did keep my attention and I wouldn’t discourage anyone from seeing it. The movie does provide a very important message that we should all be reminded of. “Live Everyday as if it were your Last.” “Today is a gift that is why it is called the Present.”
